The present investigation was carried out during the year of 2013-14 in 20 selected villages of Baramkela, Pussore, Sarangarh, and Raigarh Blocks of Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh state. Total 160 farmers were selected for the present study. The data were collected through personal interview and analyzed by using appropriate statistical methods like mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, correlation and multiple regression analysis etc. for the interpretation of the data. The findings of this study revealed that the majority of the respondents were found educated up to primary school level, belonged to OBC category and had no membership in any organization. Maximum number of the respondents were small farmers with farming + groundnut cultivation + labour work as their main occupation and belonged to the income category of 48,001 to 3,26,000 and acquired short term credit easily from co-operative society. Majority of the groundnut growers had medium contact with extension agencies and Govt. agriculture department was found as the most frequent visiting extension agencies from where the respondents obtained latest information regarding recommended groundnut production technology. Majority of the respondents had medium utilization of information sources, most of the respondents had moderately favourable attitude and majority of the respondents had medium level of scientific orientation. The overall level of knowledge of groundnut production technology was medium. Maximum knowledge was noticed in the practice of harvesting, time of sowing and seed rate. Overall adoption was medium and adoption in selected practices revealed that the maximum adoption was observed in time of sowing, seed rate and harvesting practices. Correlation analysis reveals that the variables i.e. education, land holding, annual income, contact with extension agencies, source of information, level of knowledge, attitude, and scientific orientation were found positively and significant correlation with adoption of recommended groundnut production technology. The remaining four variables viz. caste, social participation, occupation, and credit acquisition had non-significant correlation with adoption of recommended groundnut production technology. Multiple regression analysis reveals that the variables i.e. education, annual income, source of information and knowledge about recommended groundnut production technology showed the positive and significant contribution in the adoption of recommended groundnut production technology. So far as the problems faced by the groundnut growers in adoption of recommended groundnut production technology are concerned the major problems reported were more incidences of insect pests and diseases, lack of proper price of groundnut at local market, high price of improved varieties, improper market 93 facilities, lack of information about recommended groundnut production technology, low production due to local variety and complicated technique of seed treatment, non availability of improved varieties at proper time, lack of knowledge about improved variety and lack of knowledge about diseases, symptoms and their control measures etc. Some of the major suggestions proposed by the groundnut growers to overcome the problems faced by them during the adoption of recommended groundnut production technology it was observed that training programmes should be organized on plant protection measures at village level, government should provide timely and good quality seed of groundnut at proper time, government should purchase groundnut produce from farmers or groundnut growers like rice etc, government should provide improved varieties seed at low price, market facilities should be increases etc.en_US
