| dc.description.abstract | Investigation on "Studies on organic farming in cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.) Cv. Golden Acre" was carried outat All India Co-ordinated Vegetable Improvement Project, Departmentof Horticulture, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, during therabi season 2002-2003. The experiment consisted of eighteentreatments with three replications in randomized block design. The treatments with and without trap crop were laid out separately.The objective of this experiment was to study the effect ofdifferent organic treatments on growth, yield and quality attributes ofcabbage heads.The growth parameters such as number of non-wrapperleaves, weight of leaves, polar diameter, equatorial diameter, stalklength, core length, weight of head were produced better with inorganic fertilizers however were at par with that produced byorganic package.The maximum yield was produced with inorganic fertilizerdose as recommended by STCR but was at par with that produced byorganic package consisting of FYM @ 20 t/ha + Neem cake @ 250kg/ha + soil treatment with Trichodeima @ 6.25 kg/ha + AzospiriUum@ 250 g/10 L water + PSB @ 250 g/10 L water, NSKE 4 per centspraying + HaNPV @ 10 ml/10 L water + Bt. @ 10 ml/10 L water +Trichodeima @ 50 g/10 L water + trap crop of mustard in two rowsin between every 25 rows of cabbage. As regards to the quality attributes such as days toharvesting, days to splitting, compactness of head, per cent weightloss, the organically grown heads showed superior performance.Thus, it could be concluded that application of organicmanures can help to improve quality of cabbage heads with bettergrowth and yield. | en_US |
