dc.descriptionABSTRACT The Indian Dairy Industry holds an inimitable space in the country for its high employment potential and for ensuring the availability of nutritious, yet affordable, food for India's ever-increasing population. India ranks first in milk production, accounting for 18.5 % of world production, achieving an annual output of 146.3 million tonnes during 2014-15 as compared to 137.69 million tonnes during 2013-14 recording a growth of 6.26 %. Whereas, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has reported a 3.1 % increase in world milk production from 765 million tonnes in 2013 to 789 million tonnes in 2014. Jabalpur Sahkari Dugdh Sangh Maryaditis a leading public sector company Specialized in the procurement, production and marketing of milk and milk product in the Jabalpur and Rewa division of Madhya Pradesh. The present study had been assigned by the organization (JSDSM) for the period of two months in-plant training programme in the Jabalpur city of Jabalpur distt. Madhya Pradesh with a view to analyze the present status and consumer attitude towards sanchi packet milk processed by Jabalpur Sahkari Dugdh Sangh Maryadit. The present study entitled “An analysis of Present Status and Consumer attitude towards sanchi packet milk in Jabalpur city under Jabalpur Sahkari Dugdh Sangh Maryadit, Jabalpur District, Madhya Pradesh”was undertaken with the following objectives asstated below: To know the present status of Jabalpur Sahkari Dugdh Sangh Maryadit, Jabalpur. To assess the selling quantity of milk and milk products. To estimate the Marketing Margin of milk and milk products. To study the consumer attiutude towards packet milk processed by Sanchi Dugdh Sangh, Jabalpur. SWOT analysis of the organization. The important findings are summarized below: Jabalpur Sahkari Dugdh Sangh Maryadit, Jabalpur covers 17 district of Madhya Pradesh. The total 6266 functional milk societies were in operation during 2006-07 to 2015-16. The procurement of milk from functional milk societies is one of the important activities of JSDSM. the maximum (185.60) and minimum (106.95) lakh liter of milk was procured during the year 2015-16 and 2007-08 respectively. On an average 143.89 lakh liter milk (per year) had been procured by functional milk societies. The increasing trend of average milk price was found during 2006-07 to 2015-16. Overall on an average milk price was estimated to be Rs. 16.78/ liter. The sample respondent was distributed in to three groups on the basis of level of income viz. 1st 5000 to 15000, 2nd 15000 to 25000, 3rd >25000Rs/month. The more number (23) of respondents was belongs to 3rd group followed by 2nd and 1st group respectively. Consumer preference at the time of purchasing the milk, number of parameter such as quality, price, availability and facilities were considered. Majority of respondent were considered quality and facilities provided by suppliers in all the group. The next factor was availability considered by the respondents. Result also shows that there was less variation in selling quantity of different brand of milk during different month, which indicates that there was no seasonal effect in selling quantity of milk so there is lot of scope to increase the number of customers in the study area. . Strengthening of market structure for improvement of sale of milk and their products. More efforts are required to supply the milk in required time and place and also in adequate quantity. The JSDSM process the number of products, but people do not aware about all the features of products so its needed to improve these aspects through various promotional activities. There should be provision to provide more margins to the milk parlour incharge/manager for milk and their products processed by JSDSM that will be helpful to increase the sale of the product.en_US
