Abstract
The gross anatomical studies on the hypophysis cerebri were conduct on prepubertal, pubertal,
pregnant, lactating and dry age groups of Madras Red sheep. Gross biometrical parameters of hypophysis
cerebri were recorded in all the age groups. ln prepubertal, pubertal and dry animals, the pituitary gland
was irregularly triangular but in pregnant and lactating sheep it was an oval or round structure.
