dc.description.abstractThe study has reported different sources of different crop seed, seed replacement rate of different crop growers, and management of paddy seed by the farmers in selected districts of varanasi. Amongst different sources of different crop seed, the share of ( 81 per cent), of the farmers do not get desirable seed. The study is lack of awareness about seed replacement, high cost of quality seeds, in adequate supply of seed. followed by non availability of desirable seed (12 per cent), farmers do not get desirable seed due to scarcity at private shops (7 per cent).The share of other sources like fellow farmers, relatives and friends, PAU, village shopkeeper, state agriculture department, etc. has been found only 1-2 per cent each.Over all 20 percent of farmers replace there seed in case of paddy ,14 percent of farmers replace there seed in case of Wheat , 5 percent of farmers replace the seed in case of Tomato and Sponge,17 percent of farmers replace the seed in case of Cucumber, 8 percent of farmers replace the seed in case of bottle guard and Okra ,11 percent of farmers replaces in case of bean and 12 percent of farmers replace seed in case of Radish. farmers project the seed requirement of different crops here we can see that rice normal seed and 30.3084 kg for hybrid seed, , wheat is grown under the total area of 69,063 hectare among which 85 percent is normal seed and 15 percent is hybrid seed. This amount for 5870.355 kg of normal seed and 258.98 kg of hybrid seed. In the given area the amount of project seed is 504.50 kg of normal seed and 36.2572 kg for hybrid seed. The study has suggested that extension workers should motivate farmers for replacement of seed to harness more crop yield, The study is lack of awareness about seed replacement, high cost of quality seeds, inadequate supply of seed.en_US
