A bacteriological study was conducted with different semen extenders with and without gentamicin before and after freezing in order to assess the efficacy of gentamicin in controlling the bacterial load using different bacteriological media. The aerobic bacterial load of the pre-freeze semen extended with BPSE was lower compared to other two diluents. The post thaw semen extended with MBPSE showed no growth of bacteria with gentamicin supplementation. Gentamicin supplementation was highly effective in arresting the microbial growth in all the diluents tried.en_US
