Abstract
Abstract : An experiment entitled “Effect of dehanding and bunch covering on yield and quality of banana” was carried out during the year 2018-19 at Field of Shree. Ravindra.R. Jayale At. Bochara Post. Ruikhed, Tq. Akot, Dist. Akola.with objectivesto study the effect of dehanding (hand trimming) on yield and quality of banana, to study the effect of bunch covering on yield and quality of banana and to find out combine effect of dehanding level and bunch covering material for maximize quality yield of banana.
An experiment was laid out in a factorized randomized block design (FRBD) with the treatments replicated three times. The dehanding at 7 hand, 8 hand, 9 hand, 10 hand retention and control (no dehanding) and bunch covering materials such as white and blue polypropylene sleeves at 15 days of interval up to 60 days.
The results of present investigation indicated that, the growth attributing characters viz., the maximum length of finger (cm) and finger diameter (cm) was recorded in the bunch were treated with 7 hands retention and white polypropylene sleeve bunch covering material. The maximum average weight of finger (g) and weight of bunch (kg) was recorded in the bunch treated with the 7 hands retention and white polypropylene sleeve bunch covering material.
The maximum yield/plant (kg) was recorded in the treatment was treated with 7 hands retention and white polypropylene sleeve bunch covering material. Similarly, maximum total yield/ha.(tones) was also recorded in same treatment.
Biochemical attributing characters viz. maximum total soluble solids, total sugar, reducing sugar and pulp: peel ratio was recorded in the bunch were treated 7 hands retention and white polypropylene sleeve bunch covering material. Similarly, minimum titrable acidity was also recorded in the same treatment.
The incidence of pest and diseases viz. incidence of aphids and thrips and incidence of cigar end rot and anthracnose recorded minimum 7 hands retention and white polypropylene sleeve bunch covering material.
Description
Description : The present investigation deals with the quality yield of Banana.The research on banana for better yield and getting quality fruits.The market and consumer acceptable banana fruits adopting the different dehanding levels and bunch covering materials for banana bunches were studied. It is essential to get the quality fruit production and it may one of the solutions maximizing the return of the banana growers.
