The present investigation entitled "Studies on Extending the Shelf Life of Bottle Gourd (Lagenaria siceraria Stand L.)" with six packaging treatments and two storage conditions was conducted in two sets of experiments with three replications in Completely Randomised Design. The packed bottle gourd fruits Cv. Samrat were stored at room temperature (26.16 - 29.80 C ; 53.96 - 68.35% R.H.) and in low cost, low energy input cool chamber (20.16 - 21.18 C; 90.25 - 94.50% R.H.) in August 1994. There was an increase followed by subsequent decrease in TSS, reducing sugar and total sugar content with corresponding decrease in acidityupon prolonged storage of bottle gourd fruits under both the storage conditions irriespective of packaging treatments.en_US
