Abstract
The present investigation entitled “Effect of nitrogen and weed management on yield and economics of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)’’ A field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Research Farm of, Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya (U.P.) during Kharif season of 2020. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized block design with two nitrogen management and weed management with three replication. The nitrogen management treatment is (N1) RDN (100 Kgha-1) through FYM, (N2) 25% N through FYM+ 75% N chemical fertilizer, (N3) 50% N through FYM + 50% N chemical fertilizer, (N4) 75% N through FYM + 25% N chemical fertilizer and weed management treatment is (W1) Weedy check, (W2) Weed free Up to 60DAS, (W3) Sulphosulfuron 75% WP+ Metsulfosulfuron 5%WG @ 0.034 kg a.i. ha-1, (W4) Pendimethalin (pre-emergence)@1.0 kg a.i. ha-1 followed by Clodinofop (post- emergence) @ 0.4 kg a.i. ha-1. The significant effect of weed control treatment on crop and associated weed is treatment with weed free upto 60 DAS. Among herbicide the significant effect by treatment pendimethalin (pre-emergence) @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha-1 followed by clodinofop (post emergence) @ 0.4 kg a.i. ha-1.Significant effect was observed due to nitrogen management practice on grain yield of the crop. The significantly higher grain yield was observed under the application of 100% RDN through FYM which was at par with 25% N through FYM + 75% N through chemical fertilizer, while the lowest grain yield was found in 75% N through FYM + 25% N through chemical fertilizer. The interaction between nitrogen and weed management was also found non-significant effect on weeds. The highest cost of cultivation of (Rs. 52800 ha-1) was incurred under treatment combination N1 W2 (25% N through FYM+ 75% N chemical fertilizer and Weed free Up to 60DAS). The highest net return of (Rs. 99721.32 ha-1) was incurred under treatment combination N2W1 (25% N through FYM+ 75% N chemical fertilizer and Weedy check). The highest B: C ratio of (2.95) was incurred under treatment combination N2 W4 (25% N through FYM+ 75% N chemical fertilizer and Pendimethalin (pre-emergence) @ 1.0kg a.i. ha-1 followed by Clodinofop (post-emergence) @0.4 kg a.i. ha-1 .
