SPINAL STAPLING, TENSION BAND WIRING AND PLATING FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF VERTEBRAL FRACTURE, SUBLUXATION AND LUXATION IN CATS

Abstract
A total of 296 eats presented to Small Animal Orthopaedic Unit, Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Madras Veterinary College Teaching Hospital 192 (64.86%) were diagnosed for spinal affections. There was no breed predilection as all the cats that were presented with thoracolumbar vertebral affections belonged to domestic short hair breeds. Female cats were more affected (72.22 %) than male cats (27.78%) and cats in the age group of 0 to 6 months (66.67%) and in body weight between 1.0 and 1.5 kg (66.67%) were highly affected in the present study.
