A study was undertaken to assess the nutritive value of the arecanut leaf sheath (ALS) as dry fodder source for goats. ALS contained 89.09, 5.77, 0.93, 45.72, 5.93 and 41.65 per cent DM, CP, EE, CF, TA and NFE respectively. Palatability trial conducted for 30 days in four adult goats with ALS indicated, the average DMI (% of body weight) as 0.735, while DMI ( g / day) was 175.53. The digestibility coefficient for dry matter, crude protein, ether extract, crude fibre, and nitrogen free extract of ALS were 73.43, 83.19, 79.94, 88.14 and 49.69 per cent respectively. The DCP and TDN of ALS were 5.44 and 67.92 per cent respectively.en_US
