Abstract
The present study entitled “Analysis of Soil Health Card Scheme in Kangra District
of Himachal Pradesh” has been conducted to know the level of awareness among farmers
regarding soil health card scheme, motivating factors for adoption of soil health card scheme
and constraints faced in the use of soil health card scheme. The present study was conducted
in the Kangra District purposively. Samples of 110 farmers were taken randomly from five
villages. Various questions were asked from the farmers through a pre- structured
questionnaire. The studies revealed that majority of the farmers response were partial aware
about the soil health card scheme. Lack of knowledge about method of collecting ideal soil
sample, no soil testing laboratory in nearby area and difficulty in calculating fertilizer dose on
the basis of nutrient status of soil were the major problems reported and taken under the
study. The study concluded, farmer should be trained to take a soil sample of its own farm,
establishment of soil testing laboratory near the local area were the major recommendations
suggested by the farmers to overcome the constraints while implementing the scheme.
