Abstract
The most extensively investigated of all the serological tests to
detect tuberculosis is the sensitised erythrocyte agglutination test or the
passive haemagglutination test (PHAT) described by Middlebrook and
Dubos (1948). The test has undergoue modifications leading to higher
sensitivity, simplicity and reproducibility (Jagannath and Sengupta, 1983).
The present study has a modification in the PHAT involving the use of
chicken redblood cells (CRBC) as suggested by Scott (1991), instead of
the conventional sheep red blood cells (SRBC), for the diagnosis of
rinderpest (RP).
