Abstract
The field experiment was conducted at the Research Farm of Department of Agronomy, CSK HPKV, Palampur during kharif 2019 to Rabi 2021 to study the bio efficacy and phytotoxicity of ethalfluralin against weeds in soybean and its residual effect on succeeding oat. Nine weed control treatments viz. ethalfluralin 540 g/ha, 630 g/ha, 720 g/ha, 810 g/ha, 1440 g/ha, imazethapyr 100 g/ha, pendimethalin 1000 g/ha, weed free treatment and weedy check were tested in Randomized Block Design with four replications. Ageratum conyzoides was most dominant weed constituting 26 and 19 per cent of the total weed flora at maximum weed stage (60 DAS) during 2019 and 2020, respectively. Among treatments applied in soybean, pre-plant incorporation of ethalfluralin 720 g/ha behaving statistically similar to ethalfluralin 810 g/ha followed by imazethapyr 100 g/ha resulted in significantly lowest total weed density as well as dry weight of weeds. Due to better weed control, significantly better crop growth, yield attributes, higher seed and straw yield were recorded with these treatments during 2019 and 2020. None of the ethalfluralin doses applied in soybean had any residual effect on succeeding oat crop.
