T In the laboratory studies the effect of different poison baits cm egg laying of B. tau revealed that minimum egg laying was observed with bait Ill consisting of Dharek seed kernel extrct .. ·t {DSKE) mixed with the diet (protinex: gur (1 :1), yeast 5%, ammonium acetate 0.1%) (62.3 egss/ 10 females) while maximum egg laying was in untreated conJrol (165 eggs/10 females). The minlmun • egg laying was recorded after 96 hours after treatment ( 11 .9 eggsf10 females) and the maximum egg laying was recorded after 24 hours of treatment (32.9 eggs/ 10 females). Hatching recorded after feeding the flies with different poison baits in laboratory studies revealed that hatching was minimum In bait 111 (5~. 1 %) while the maximum hatching was obseNed in control {69.9 %). The minimum hatching was reco~ded after 96 hours of treatment {59.8%) and maximum after 24 hours after treatment (65.9%). DSKE (6%) recorded maximum ovipositional deterrent effect (62.5%) while at 4 % DSKE the minimi.:m hatching was recorded (45.9%). The oviposltional deterrency was maximum after 24 hours after treatment (60.9%) and minimum after 120 hours after treatment (47.6%). Hatching was recorded after dlppi11g the tomato fruits for 30 seconds in different concentrations of Dharek seed kernel extract. Hatchir.g decreased as the concentration of DSKE was increased and was minimum at 6 % DSl<E (56.4%) ,..nd maximum 1n control (68.1%) as obsel'\led in laboratory studies. In field studies, bait II consisting or M31athion 0.1% mixed with the diet resulted in minimum infestation (37.0%) as compared to 39.3% in U•1treated cuntrol. Maximum infestation was recorded on 17th August (41 .0%) and minimum on 6111 Septer, 11er (34.9%). The yield of tomato was maximum in plot, which was sprayed with bait II (26387.6 kg/ha) as compared to untreated control (24131 .6 kg/ha). Effect of intercropping of bitter gourd with tomato sh::wed no effect In reduction of fruit fly infestation in tomato but resulted in increase in yield which was r .aximum when bitter gourd was planted after 5 lines of tomato (33891 .4 kg/ha) and minimum in •.n treated control (33140.0 kg/ha).en_US
