Abstract
A field trial was conducted during the kharif season 2016, to study the “Effect of organic and inorganic fertilizer on growth and yield of blackgram (Vigna mungo L, Hepper) under guava based agri-horti system” The experiment was carried out at the agricultural research farm, Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Banaras Hindu University, Barkachha, Mirzapur (U.P.) which is situated in Vindhyan region of district Mirzapur. The treatments comprised of two levels of inorganic fertilizer, NPK (20,40,20 kg ha-1 and 30,50,30 kg ha-1) and three level of organic manure (FYM, vermicompost and rhizobium) in factorial randomized block design (4x3), with 12 treatment combinations, each replicated three times. Data revealed that use of organic manure and inorganic fertilizer had significant effect on yield and yield attributes of blackgram over control during the year of experiment. The maximum plant height, no. of branch plant-1, no. of nodules-1, seeds pod-1, pods plant-1, test wt/1000g grains, stover yield, grain yields, biological yield and harvest index were observed in 30 kg N ha-1+50 kg P2O5 ha-1+30 kg K2O ha-1+8 tonne vermicompost followed by 30 kg N ha-1+50 kg P2O5 ha-1+30 kg K2O ha-1+6 tonne farmyard manure. The lowest value was recorded with the control during the year of experiment. The increase in yield and yield attributes significantly is possibly due to the synergistic effects of soil test based NPK, Vermicompost, FYM and Rhizobium inoculants. The combination of FYM, vermicompost, inorganic fertilizers and inoculation had pronounced on soil fertility that resulted in better vegetative growth in plant height, no. of branch plant-1, no. of nodules-1, seeds pod-1, pods plant-1, test wt/1000g grains, stover yield, grain yields, biological yield and harvest index.
