An experiment was carried out for six weeks, from August 18 to September 28, 2009, in arid zone of Rajasthan. A total of 180 day old broiler chicks were divided into four treatment groups of 45 chicks which were further sub-divided into three equal replicates. The antistress agents were supplemented in feed at the rate of 100 g/ton and 200 g/ton herbal vitamin C (Ayucee) designated group T2 and T3 respectively, 250 mg/kg vitamin C/ascorbic acid designated group T4 and control group T1. The average body weight at week IV and VI and weight gain at week IV, V, VI and I-VI were found to be significant. The feed consumption showed non significant effect of antistress agent in all the weeks. The effect of antistress agent on feed conversion efficiency was significant (P < 0.01) at the starter stage (IIII), finisher stage (week IV-VI) and on cumulative feed conversion ratio (I-VI weeks) over control. The effect of different treatments was found to be non significant on carcass traits. The mortality revealed no significant differences due to any treatment. Higher profits per chick over control, of Rs. 8.11 was found in group T3 followed by T2 Rs 7.55, T4 Rs. 7.19. The results suggested that feed cost per kilogram live weight gain was reduced by supplementation of antistress agents. Hence, incorporation of antistress agents is beneficial for economic broiler production in moderately high temperature.en_US
