dc.description | It relates to the effect of high density planting and different layouts for growth, flowering, yield and quality of gladiolus with consist of five different spacing and two different layouts. Gladiolus planted at spacing 30 × 15 cm and raised bed layout produce maximum vegetative growth, earliest flowering, yield and quality parameter. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The results obtained in the present investigation in respect of vegetative growth parameters in terms of days to sprouting of corms (days), sprouting of corms (%), shoots plant-1, plant height, leaves plant-1, leaf area were recorded maximum with the treatment P3 i.e. spacing 30 x 15 cm and raised bed layout (L2). In respect of flowering characters, viz., days to first spike emergence, days to opening of first floret, days to 50 per cent flowering were recorded minimum with the treatment P3 i.e. spacing 30 x 15 cm and raised bed layout (L2). The yield parameters viz., spikes plant-1 were recorded maximum with the treatment P3 i.e. spacing 30 x 15 cm and raised bed layout (L2), spikes plot-1 and spikes ha-1 were recorded maximum with the treatment P3 i.e. spacing 20 x 10 cm and raised bed layout (L2). Corms plant-1, corms plot-1, corms ha-1, cormels plant-1, cormels plot-1, cormels ha-1were recorded maximum with the treatment P1 i.e. spacing 45 x 15 cm and raised bed layout (L2). Similarly, the quality parameters like length of spike, diameter of spike, length of rachis and vase life of flower were recorded maximum with the treatment P3 i.e. spacing 30 x 15 cm and raised bed layout (L2). Diameter of corm, weight of corm, weight of corms plant-1, weight of cormel, weight of cormels plant-1 and diameter of cormels plant-1 were recorded maximum with the treatment P1 i.e. spacing 45 x 15 cm and raised bed layout (L2). | en_US |

dc.research.problem | The present study entitled, “Effect of high density planting and different layouts for growth, flowering, yield and quality of gladiolus” wasundertaken to study the effect of plant densities on growth, flowering, yield and quality of gladiolus, to assess the effect of different layouts on growth, flowering, yield and quality of gladiolus and to find out the suitable planting density and layouts for better growth, flowering, yield and quality of gladiolus. | en_US |

dc.theme | The experiments were carried outat Research Farm, Section of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, Nagpur during the year 2018-19. (October-April, 2018). The experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications. The treatments comprised of the two factors i.e. factor A and factor B. Factor A consist of five different spacing (45 x 15 cm, 30 x 20 cm, 30 x 15 cm, 20 x 15 cm, 20 x 10cm) and factor B consist of two different layouts (flat bed and raised bed). In all ten treatment combinations replicated thrice. | en_US |
