Incidence of equine colic was 21.42 per cent. Breed Wise incidence was higher in thorough- bred (53.33 per cent) followed by Kathiawari (33.33 per cent) and Marwari horses (10 per cent). Horses aged between 5 and 10 years (66.67 per cent) and male horses (66.33 per cent) were found to be more commonly affected. Prolonged capillary refill time was observed in moder- ate and severe colic. Fifty per cent of severe colicky horses had increased intestinal sounds. Distended small or large intestine was palpable upon rectal examination in severe colicky horses and 80 per cent of them died. The heart rate and respiratory rate elevated significantly in all the three groups of colic and found to be the great- est in severe colicky horses. Blood pressure was significantly reduced in severe colicky horses.en_US
