The field experiment was conducted during the year 2017 under All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Tuber Crops at S.G. College of Agriculture and Research Station, Jagdalpur, IGKV, Raipur (C.G.) to study on “Response of Different Fertility Levels and Pre-emergence Herbicides on Tuber Yield of Colocasia (Colocasia esculenta var. antiquorum) under Bastar Plateau of Chhattisgarh”. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with two factors namely fertility levels and different pre-emergence herbicides with three replications. The main plot treatment consisted of five fertility levels viz. F1 - 70% NPK, F2 - 85%NPK, F3 - 100% NPK, F4 - 115% NPK and F5 - 130% NPK and application of pre-emergence herbicides viz. T1 - Atrazine @ 1.5 kg a.i. ha-1, T2 - Pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. ha-1, T3 - Butachlor @ 1.5 kg a.i. ha-1, T4 - Metribuzine @ 0.25 kg a.i. ha-1, T5 - Hand weeding and T6 - Weedy check (control) were sub plot treatment. The result revealed that fertility levels produce non significant effect on germination percent and number of leaves in different growth stages. However, Plant height, leaf length, leaf width, leaf area index were increased significantly under F5 (130% NPK). Weed control efficiency were not affected by any fertility levels treatment. Weed species, weed population and dry weight of weed were recorded significantly maximum under F5 (130% NPK) followed by F4 (115% NPK). While length of corm, weight of corm, number of primary cormels, length of cormels and weight of cormels were observed significantly higher under F5 (130% NPK) and lowest recorded was treatment F1 (70% NPK), while diameter of corm was not affected by any fertility levels. However, yield of corms, dry matter of corm and cormels, net returns and benefit cost ratio was recorded significantly maximum under F5 (130% NPK) followed by F4 (115% NPK) and minimum was observed under F1 (70% NPK) in fertility levels. Pre-emergence herbicides of colocasia recorded significantly higher, germination percent, plant height, number of leaf, leaf length, leaf width, leaf area index under T2 (Pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. ha-1) followed by application of T3 (Butachlor @ 1.5 kg a.i. ha-1) in different growth stages. Weed species, weed density and dry weight of weed were significantly higher in T6 (weedy check) whereas, weed control efficiency was recorded significantly higher in T2 (Pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. ha-1) at 30 and 60 DAP. The maximum length of corm, diameter of corm, weight of corm, number of primary cormels, length of cormels and weight of cormels were recorded significantly in treatment T2 (Pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. ha-1). However, yield of corms, dry matter accumulation of corm and cormels, net returns and B:C ratio was recorded significantly higher under T2 (Pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. ha-1) and lowest was observed under T6 (weedy check). The interaction between fertility levels and pre-emergence herbicide, interaction F5 x T1, T2, T3, T4, T5 and T6 was recorded significantly higher number of primary cormels, length of cormels and weight of cormels followed by interaction F4 x T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5. Whereas, the interaction of weed density, dry weight of weeds, weed control efficiency, length of corm, diameter of corm, weight of corm, dry matter of corm and cormels, yield of corm and cormels, net returns and B:C ratio of colocasia found unaffected due to different treatment.  en_US
