The increased demand for egg-type punet chicks in the recent years has resulted in the stagnation of the male chicks at hatcheries. However, discarding the male chicks at day old stage will cause huge monetary loss for the Poultry Industry. Hence profitable means of raising these surplus male chicks have been attt?lllpted by many workers (Haque and Agarwala 1975, Taylor et (/1, 1975. Haleem et al. 1978, and Narahari et al 1980). It is well known that male chicks grow faster than females and the nutrient requirements may differ in order to g>!t maximum growth at particular age. No standard recommendations are available pertaining to dietary protein and metabolizable energy requirements of these birds for profitable meat production. Hence an experiment was conducted to study the effect of feeding different dietary levels of crude protein and metabolizable energy on performance and economics of White Leghorn male chicks.en_US
