Abstract
ABSTRACT The studies were conducted on Okra for evaluation of superior genotypes under the Varanasi district. The investigation entitled :- “Market share and Potential of Insecticide and Fungicide in Okra crop in Varanasi district in Uttar Pradesh with references to E.I.DuPont India Pvt.Ltd.” was carried out during zaid season of 2013. at vegetable complex, Department of vegetable science (IIVR) Varanasi (U.P.) with the objectives. To estimate the genetic variability and heritability for vegetable yield and its attributes, to find out the inter-relationship among yield and its components and to estimate the performance of different genotypes of okra. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with twenty two genotypes (16 genotype + 2 check) and three replications with 66 plots. The plot size was kept 3.00 x 3.00m. The row to row distance was 50 cm. and plant to plant distance was 35cm. Sixtine one genotypes were collected from IIVR, Varanasi. Various observations were recorded on morphological characters viz., Plant height (cm) at 60, 90 & 120 DAT, No. of primary branches/plant at 30, 60 DAT, Bearing Habit (Upright, Pendent), Phenological parameters like Days to first flowering, Days to 50% flowering, Days to first picking, Fruiting span, Yield parameters like Fruit length (cm), Fruit width (cm), Number of fruits per plant, Fruit weight (g) – green okra, Fruit , Quality parameters Fruit shape, Fruit colour. Genetic variability, heritability genetic advance as percentage of mean and correlation amongst different morphological and yield attributing parameters were calculated. The results showed that presence of considerable amount of genetic variability and mean values for all the characters have showed wide range of variability for all the morphological, phenological and qualitative traits studied. It was observed that the genotype showed variation in growth and flowering characters similarly significant difference was recorded in yield characters. The genotypes Anamica variety was recorded maximum plant height at (150.26 cm) and highest 170cm and 3.0-5.0 number of primary branches per plant at 30 and 60 DAT respectively, and it was also recorded maximum fruit length (16 cm), fruit yield per plant (2.5-3.5kg), fruit yield per hectare (250-325kg). ). Early first flowering was exhibited in genotype Arka variety and it was also recorded maximum fruiting span (108.99), early 50% flowering (50.33 ), fruit width (1.43 cm), highest fruit weight of green okra (12-17g). Number of fruit per plant was highest in hybrid variety. This indicated the presence of sufficient amount of genetic variability for these traits that can be exploited by breeding procedure for the improvement of these characters. Common disease in the Okra crop namelly yello mosic, fruit borror. Maximum use the pesticide in okra crop namely Insecticide (Coragen,Padan,Profex super,Pegasus ect.) & Fungicide (Indofil M-45,Saaf,Curzet & Kocide ect). Show the Market shere & potential of insecticide and fungicide, and block wise market shere and potential of Insecticide & Pesticide. Show the total area block wise in Okra crop in Varanasi district.
