Abstract
Field and laboratory experiments were conducted to study the effect of seed pelleting with micronutrients and pesticides on seed yield, quality and storability of radish cv. Pusa chetki during 2014-2015. Seeds were pelleted with different micronutrients and pesticides along with a filler material (Talc powder @ 250 g/kg) and maida (Starch gruel @ 10 %) as a binding material which are packed in polythene bag (700 gauge) and stored at ambient condition. The seeds pelleted with ZnSO4 @ 3 g per kg seed recorded higher number of branches per plant (9.80), less number of days to flower initiation (33.4), 50 per cent flowering (44.67) and pod maturation (97.78) over the seed pelleted with FeSO4 @ 2 g/kg seed (8.53, 36.71 days, 49.56 days and 101.89 days, respectively). Maximum seed yield (11.73 q/ha) was observed due to seed pelleting with the micronutrient ZnSO4 (@ 3 g/kg seed), which is 23.44 per cent more over FeSO4 (@ 2 g/kg seed). All seed quality parameters of progeny seeds did not differ significantly due to seed pelleting with micronutrients and pesticides.
Seeds pelleted with ZnSO4 recorded significantly higher results of germination percentage (93.67), root length (16.70 cm) and seedling vigour index (2825) till the end of ten months of storage period over FeSO4 (91.54, 15.81 cm and seedling vigour index 2653, respectively). Seeds pelleted with Vitavaxpower recorded significantly higher 1000 seed weight (10.62 g), germination percentage (93.50), root length (16.89 cm), seedling vigour index (2879), seedling dry weight (83.93 mg), lower EC (0.716 dS/m) and maintained good seed health throughout the storage period over control.
