A five ears old Jersey cross bred cow was brought to the Madras Veterinary College Teaching Hospital with the history of swaying movement of neck and sternal recumbency since previous night. On clinical swilylng movement oflneck and motility, flagging of neck with hypothermia were noticed. Hemogram revealed mild anemia with normal leucocyte count. Venous Blood Gas analysis revealed hypokalemia (3.09mmol/1). In peripheral blood smear Anaplasinamarginale was detected. Serum biochemical analysis was also done to evaluate the metabolic status. The case was confirmed as downer with hypokalemia and concurrent anaplasrnosis and was treated for metabolic disorder and concurrent anaplasmosis.
