Abstract
Field experiments were conducted to study the effect of sources and levels of zinc and boron as foliar spray on growth, yield and quality of grapes and pomegranate during 2015-16 and 2016-17 in the farmer’s field at Chikkaballapur district in a Randomized Block Design. The experimental results indicated that significantly higher growth, yield, quality parameters, zinc content in the index tissue, fruit nutrient content except phosphorus was recorded in the treatment T13 (NPK+ Foliar spray of zinc @ 0.150 % as zinc metalosate) which is on par with the treatment T18 (NPK+ Foliar spray of zinc @ 0.150 % as Zn-EDTA) as compared to control (T3: NPK + FYM) and other treatments in both grapes and pomegranate. Combined application of boron and zinc @ 0.017 and 0.050 per cent through boron and zinc metalosate along with recommended dose of NPK increased significantly cane length, cane girth, internodal length, number of bunches plant-1, number of berries bunch-1, mean weight of berries bunch-1, weight of bunch, yield, TSS, total sugars, boron content in index tissue, fruit N, P, K, S and B content. Significant increase in plant growth, yield parameters, physical parameters, quality and nutrient content in pomegranate fruit was recorded due to combined application of boron @ 0.017 % as boron metalosate + zinc @ 0.050 % as zinc metalosate along with recommended NPK. Significantly higher soil available nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, zinc and boron content after harvest of the crops was recorded in the control (T3: NPK+ FYM) compared to other treatments.
