dc.description.abstractSelf-concept generally refers to the totality of a complex, organized and dynamic system of learned beliefs, attitudes and opinions that each pattern holds to be true about his or her personal existence. The main purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between self-concept, achievement motivation, and family environment. The study was conducted in Hisar district of Haryana state where two Government Senior Secondary Schools from rural area and two from urban area were selected. From each of the four selected schools of rural and urban area of Hisar, all girls of 14-16 year were included in final sample. Self prepared questionnaire was used to delineate sociopersonal variables. The Family Climate Scale (FCS) developed by Shah (2001) was used to assess family environment of adolescent girls. Achievement Motivation Scale by Rao (1973) was used to assess achievement motivation. Self- Concept of was judged by using Self Concept Inventory (SCI) by Mohsin (1979). Results indicated that Achievement motivation of adolescents was positively and significantly correlated with self-concept of adolescents. Adolescents from urban area get better family environment as compared to adolescents from rural area. Results further explicate that adolescent girls having good family environment better in academic performance. Self concept and achievement motivation were significantly associated with some aspects of family environment.en_US
