Health and Nutrition Education (HNE) is a tool to bring a change in the behavior of individuals for the protection and promotion of their health and well-being. The increase in the knowledge of the community about health and nutrition has been found an effective tool in preventing malnutrition and enhancing the child survival rate by Punhani and Mahajan (1989) also. The Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Sports, Women and Child Development, Ms. Mamata Banerjee, informed the House on 15th July, 1991 that a survey conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research under the National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau {NNMB) during 1972-79 in 10 states revealed that about 24 per cent of the women had low body weight and height (Parliament News, 1991). Women's well-being is also essential for child survival. Women and children both need special care.en_US
