dc.description.abstractThe present work deals with development of biocomposites (BCs) through treatment of the royal palm frond (RPF) with high-density polyethylene (HDPE). BCs based laminated composite structures were fabricated and analysed through scanning electron microscopy, simultaneous thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis-differential thermogravimetry and variable voltage σDC conductivity. The BCs exhibited lower σDC conductivity and increased thermal stability over RPF. The current-voltage characteristics revealed the ohmic behaviour of the BCs. Increasing the voltage from 5 to 30V resulted in a slight increase in current (μA) for both the BCs and RPF, ranging from 0.028 to 0.138 and 0.043 to 0.170, respectively. This research contributes to the understanding of fabricating BCs with improved electric resistance and provides valuable insights into their thermal and electrical properties.
