dc.description.abstractCognition refers to the "higher mental processes" and the functions involved in understanding and dealing with the world around as intelligence. perception, learning, Concept formation abstraction, problem solving and creative thinking. A person perceives or thinks about objects and events an<l the mental representation or these is known as cognition. Physiologist Suggest that the environment around the child must be stimulating and rich to enhance his cognitive growth. Different pioneers like Piaget. Binnet and Simon, Spearman expressed their views on cognitive (Appendix - V) The environment has a crucial role to play in the development of cognitive process during the early childhood ears. Studies have also shown that a greeter percentage of bright children comes from families of higher Socio-economic status. Contributory factors are high Educational attainment o( parents. good home Books reading material and other stimulating (actors in the environment. During the past quarter of Century Researchers have been concerned about the environment that children live in, how the environment contributes to optimal development and how the multiple facts of the environment interact with child characteristics to determine the course of development.en_US
