dc.description.abstractPericardíal diseases are uncommon cardiovascular disorders affecting dogs which when left untreated may lead to diastolic failure, cardiac tamponade and death. Pericardial diseases are those which primarily affects pericardium, characterized by pericardial thickening, pericardial fibrosis, hyperplasia and hypertrophy of mesothelial lining and finally, pericardial effusion. Pericardial effusion is the abnormal accumulation of fluid in the pericardial sac and it is pericardial effusion which is helpful in díagnosíng pericardial diseases based upon diagnostic imaging like Echocardiography.en_US
