Abstract
The present study aims to find out the effectiveness of the educational programme to promote colostrum feeding and to compare the effectiveness of the two edneatlonal methods used. The study also tried to Investigate the Influence of the Independent variables on colostrum feeding performance of control and experimental groups. The sample for the study consisted of i2o respondents selected randomly from antenatal These were the mothers who had not fed colostrum to their previous child/children. Of these. 80 respondents were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the rest to the control group. The experimental group was divided Into group A and B. The former received education through lectures and the latter received pamphlets. All respondents were observed and Interviewed before and after delivery to gather the data regarding changes If any In their praotloe of discarding colostrum. Chl-sqnace and paired 't' test were used to analyse the results. The results were as follows 1) Bducatlon glveny by the researoher had been effective In motivating, more than 50 per cent of experimental group respondents to feed colostrum. 2) ®o significant difference was found between experimental group A and B In colostrum feeding.
