Abstract
Bluetongue is an economically important viral disease of sheep and other
ruminants. Prevalence of bluetongue have been reported from different parts
of this country. (Lonkar et al., 1983; Mehrotra and Shukla, 1990; Janakiraman
et al., 1991). The marked variation in the susceptibility of individual animal,
age group, breed, species and the wide range of virulence exhibited by
antigenically different strains of bluetongue virus are responsible for the
unpredictable morbidity and mortality (Sellers, 1981; Sharma el al., 1985).
