Abstract
Two hundred (200) day old straight run commercial broiler chicks were distributed randomly into five treatment groups viz. control (T1), probiotic supplemented in the feed at the rate of 100 g/tonne of feed (T2), prebiotic supplemented in the feed at the rate of 500 g/tonne of feed (T3), probiotic + prebiotic at the rate of 100 g/tonne and 500 g/tonne of feed, respectively (T4) and probiotic + prebiotic at the rate of 50 g/tonne and 250 g/tonne of feed, respectively. The feed included supplements either alone or in combination was offered to the birds throughout experimental period (0-6 weeks).
