dc.description.abstractSheep rearing constitutes an important species of livestock for poverty alleviation and as an income source of rural masses. It contributes to nearly 40 per cent to the total meat production in Tamil Nadu. Madras Red sheep is being reared mostly in the northern parts of Tamil Nadu. A study was carried out to evaluate the growth and reproductive performance of Madras Red sheep reared in field conditions under the Network Project on Sheep.en_US
