The effect of nitrogen and potassium on the growth, yield and quality of litch crop were investigated in this study. This experiment was carried out at the Fruit Research Farm, Department of Fruit Science, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultureal University , Pasighat, Aruanchal Pradesh in the year 2014-2015. The experiment was carried out in factorial Randomized Block Design with 16 treatments which were replicated 3 times. The treatments include, N0K0 = 0gm N + 0gm K2O, N0K1 = 0gm +200gm K2O, N0K2 = 0gmN+ 400gm K2O, N0K3= 0gm N + 600gm K2O, N1K0 = 400gm N +0gm K2O, N1K1 = 400gm +200gm K2O, N1K2 = 400gm N +400gm K2O, N1K3 = 400gm N + 600gm K2O, N2K0 = 600gm N+ 0gm K2O, N2K1 = 600gm +200gm K2O, N2K2 = 600gm N +400 gm K2O, N2K3 = 600gm N + 600gm K2O,N3K0 =800gm + N +0gm K2O, N3K1= 800gm + 200gm K2O, N3K2=800gm N + 400gm K2O, N3K3 =800gm N + 600gm K2O.en_US
Experimental result showed that the incorporation of the different levels of nitrogen and potassium concentration had a positive effect on growth parqameters except on north-south canopy spread. Highest increase in plant height (3.04%) was recorded by N2K0, i.e., 600 g N + 400gm K2O and highest increase in stem girth (32.80%) was recorded in N2K2, i.e., 600gm N + 400gm K2O. The treatment combinations also had a significant influence on yield parameters where N1K1 recorded the highest number of fruits per plant (1259.33), N0K1 had highest fruit weight (22.96g) and fruit yield per plant was recorded highest in N2K1 (24.52kg/tree). With respect to fruit quality, highest TSS (19660Brix) and arial weight was recorded in N2K1, N1K3 recorded the lowest titratable acidity (0.49%), highest total sugars (24.76%) and non-reducing sugar (11.43%). Fruit cracking was also found to be less in N2K1. In respect to soil parameters, maximum soil EC (375.66 US), available nitrogen (529.5kg/ha), and potassium (295.16 kg/ha) content was recorded by N3K3 but there was no significant variation regarding available phosphorus. In respect to leaf nutrient analysis, highest nitrogen in leaf sample (1.75%) and potassium in leaf sample (1.62%) was found in N3K3. In general treatment, T10 (600gm N + 200gm K2O) followed by T6 (400gm N +200 gm K2O) was found to perform better than the other treatments in terms of yield and fruit quality of young litchi plant growing in Pasighat, East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.en_US
