dc.description.abstractAgro-morphological characterization of rice genotypes is the basic criteria in organizes to produce basic knowledge for plant breeding programme. The current studied was conducted at Research cum Instructional Farm, IGKV, RMD CARS, Ambikapur, Chhattishgarh. The experimental materials comprised of twenty five aromatic & pigmented genotypes of rice along with three checks viz., Krishnanjana, Aruna and Dubraj selection-1. The experiment was conducted in RBD with purpose to characterize twenty five genotypes of rice for qualitative & quantitative characters. Qualitative observation were taken for thirty three traits described on descriptors. Observations on eighteen quantitative traits were recorded and subjected for estimation of genetic variability. All metric traits were also recorded and subjected for estimation of correlation coefficients and path analysis. Analysis of variance for metric traits showed that the MSS due to genotypes were significant for length of leaf blade, width of leaf blade while it is highly significant for stem thickness, stem length, ,time of 50% heading & no. of effective tillers/plant, tillers/plant, spikelet/plant, filled spikelet/plant, weight of thousand seed, length & width of grain, grain length and width ratio, spikelet fertility %, biological yield plant-1, harvest index/plant, maturity days. Heritability h2(bs) was maximum reported for weight of thousand seed succeeded by yield of grain plant-1, biological yield plant-1, filled spikelet/plant, total tillers/plant, length & width of grain, grain length and grain width ratio, spikelet fertility percentage harvest index/plant, stem length, stem thickness & days to maturity. The maximum GA as % of mean was recorded for grain yield /plant succeeded by biological yield per plant, filled spikelet/plant & no. of tillers plant-1. It indicates that these traits are regulated by additive genes action & selection will be gratifying for the development of alike characters. Analysis of correlation carried out among 18 characters indicated positive & significant correlation of grain yield /plant with leaf length of blade, stem thickness, time of 50% heading, no. of filled spikelet panicle-1, weight of thousand grain, spikelet fertility %, biological yield plant-1, harvest index/plant & maturity days at level of genotypic & stem length, filled spikelet panicle-1, weight of thousand grain, spikelet fertility %, biological yield/plant & harvest index/plant at phenotypic level. Analysis of path recorded that leaf width, time of 50% heading, filled spikelet plant-1, weight of thousand grain, grain width, grain length & grain width ratio, biological yield plant-1 & maturity days had direct positive effect on yield of grain/plant.en_US
