Abstract
An experiment entitled “Effect of different levels of phosphorus and potassium on growth, yield and quality of cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L. Taub)” was carried during summer season of 2018, at Instructional farm, Department of Vegetable Science, Faculty of Horticulture, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized Block Design with four levels of Phosphorus as factor A viz., P1 (Control), P2 (65 kg P2O5 ha-1) and P3(80 kg P2O5 ha-1) , P4 ( 95 kg P2O5 ha-1) and factor B of Potassium levels viz. K1 (control), K2 ( 30 kg K2O ha-1), K3 (45 kg K2O ha-1) and K4 (60 kg K2O ha-1) with 16 treatment combinations, replicated thrice to study the effect of different levels of Phosphorus and Potassium on growth, yield and quality of cluster bean. The results of present investigation indicated that, the growth parameters like plant height, number of leaves per plant was showed significant influence with treatment P4 (95 kg P2O5 ha-1) and K4 (60 kg K2O ha-1). The yield attributing parameters like, number of days to first flowering, number of days to 50% flowering, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per cluster, number of pods per plant, pod length, weight of pods per plant, pod yield per plot and pod yield quintal ha-1, and protein content, was recorded maximum with the treatment P3 (80 kg P2O5 ha-1) and K3 (45 kg K2O ha-1). The interaction effect of treatment P3K3 i.e (80 kg P2O5 kg ha-1) along with (45 kg K2O ha-1), was found significant in the production of maximum pod yield of cluster bean. Considering the cost economics, the phosphorus and potassium levels with the application of treatment P2 i.e. (65 kg P2O5 ha-1) and K3 i.e (45 kg K2O ha-1). Were found to be more remunerative and profitable as per the B: C ratio (2.45) i.e. with treatment P2K3, also P3K3 was equally good (2.44) for cluster bean production.
Description
