Abstract
Description
The present investigation entitled “Population dynamics, effect of nitrogen levels and efficacy of insecticides against sucking pests on brinjal” was carried out at Research Farm of the Department of Entomology, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar during Kharif, 2020 using brinjal variety (BR-112) to study the extent of population dynamics, effect of different nitrogen levels on sucking pests population and relative efficacy of chemicals and bio-pesticides on sucking pests population. The population dynamics studies revealed that, maximum whitefly adult population (38.87 whitefly/ 3leaves) and nymphal population (70.13 whitefly/ 3 leaves) was recorded in 42nd SMW. The maximum population of jassid (1.13 jassid/ leaves) was observed in 44th SMW, aphid population (0.67 aphid/ 3 leaves) and red spider mite population (4.93 red spider mite/ 3 leaves) were recorded maximum in 51st and 40th SMW respectively. The different doses of nitrogen have different effects on sucking pests population, the peak population of whitefly adult, whitefly nymph, jassid, aphid and red spider mite were maximum in treatment N-6 (200 kg N/ha), the least population of whitefly adult, jassid and aphid was recorded in treatment N-1 (75 kg N/ha). Whereas, the whitefly nymph and red spider mite population recorded lowest in treatment N-2 (100 kg N/ha) and N-3 (125 kg N/ha). The highest fruit yield and ICBR was recorded in treatment N-4 (150 kg N/ha). The field efficacy of chemicals and bio-insecticides revealed that, Spirotetramat + Imidacloprid 11.01 SC + 11.01 SC @ 500 ml was best chemical for control of whitefly adult, whitefly nymph and jassid population, followed by Pyriproxyfen + Fenpropathrin 5 EC + 15 EC @ 500 ml and Thiamethoxam 25 WG @ 200 g. Propargite 57 EC @ 1000 ml was best for control of red spider mite followed by Spirotetramat + Imidacloprid 11.01 SC + 11.01 SC @ 500 ml and Diafenthiuron 50 WP @ 600 g. The maximum yield was observed in treatment Spirotetramat + Imidacloprid @ 500ml/ha followed by Pyriproxyfen + Fenpropathrin @ 500ml/ha. However, the maximum ICBR was recorded in treatment Thiamethoxam @ 200 g/ha and Fenpropathrin @ 250 ml/ha, least ICBR value was recorded in treatment Neem Seed Kernal Extract (NSKE) @ 5% and Neem oil @ 2%. All treatments were found significantly superior over control
