dc.description | The current study was carried out in the laboratory and research field of Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh from the year 2020-2022.The experiment on seed germination parameters of Gleditsiatriacanthos L. was carried out in laboratory following the CRD design with 21 treatments, each replicated four times. Of the 21 treatments the maximum germination was recorded in the treatment T4 - Seeds dipped in conc. Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) for 20 minutes, then soaked in water for 12 hours (66.27%) which was at par with T5 - Seeds dipped in conc. Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) for 40 minutes, then soaked in water for 12 hours (66.04%), followed by T6 - Seeds dipped in conc. Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) for 60minutes , then soaked in water for 12 hours (62.07%) The least germination was obtained from treatments T21- Seeds mixed with cow dung and buried in pit for a week (33.83%)and T20 - Seeds dipped in cow urine for 24 hours (29.66%). | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The experiment on the effect of undercutting and wrenching was carried out in the field following the RBD design with 13 treatments with 3 replications and 15 plants per treatment planted at a spacing of 30 cm x 40 cm. Observations for the following were recorded:Plant height, Collar diameter, Root shoot ratio, Root spread, Fresh weight of shoot and root, total root shoot length and survival percentage (%). Significant difference was observed for the given parameters between the treated seedlings (undercut and wrenched) and untreated /control (not undercut or wrenched). The eventual aim of this experiment was to check the difference in the outplanting survival between the treated and untreated plants. The maximum outplanting survival was recorded in T13-Undercutting at depth of 15-17cm, followed by wrenching 9 times (66.55%), followed by T12-Undercutting at depth of 10-12cm, followed by wrenching 9 times (54.13%) whereas the minimum survival percent was recorded in T1- control (27.78%). | en_US |
