Abstract
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the most important cereal crop and provides staple food for more than half of the worlds population. Rice is known as the grain of life as well as integral part of social rites and festivals in almost all Asian Countries and grown in various agro ecological zones in tropical and subtropical areas, especially in Asia, accounting for 90% of the world population.
