Abstract
The objective of this case report was to describe the clinical and gross pathological findings of
suppurative pericarditis and its correlation with ultrasonographical and biochemical changes in a cattle.
Brisket edema was moderately evident with positive jugular pulsation. The complete hemogram revealed
markedly increased leukocytes with neutrophils. Serum biochemistry depicts elevated creatinine phosphokinase
(CPK), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), potassium (K+), Total protein (TP) and aspartate amino transferase
(AST/SGOT). Examination of pericardial fluid showed considerable increase in the fibrinogen level and
culturing of these fluid results in growth of the staphylococcal organisms. Whereas ultrasonography revealed
changes according to congestive heart failure (CHF). These results were compared with necropsy findings
and histopathology.
