Abstract
ABSTRACT
The present experiment was laid out in the experimental orchard of the Department of
Fruit Science, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni-Solan
(H.P). The experiment consisted of 19 treatments with three replications laid out in Randomized
Block Design. The biostimulants applied were Vipul (5 ml/l, 10 ml/l, 15 ml/l), Cytozyme (1 ml/l,
2 ml/l, 4 ml/l), Homobrassinolides (0.5 ml/l, 1 ml/l, 1.5 ml/l), Biozyme (1 ml/l, 2 ml/l, 3 ml/l),
Vipul + Homobrassinolides (0.5 + 5 ml/l, 1 + 5 ml/l, 1.5 + 5 ml/l, 5 + 0.5 ml/l, 5 + 1 ml/l, 5 + 1.5
ml/l) and control. The results revealed that plant biostimulants significantly improved plant
growth, fruit set, yield, fruit quality, flowering and return bloom and reduced flower drop, fruit
cracking and fruit drop. However, the effect of biostimulants on rind thickness was not
significant. The highest canopy volume and highest increase in trunk girth, leaf area, yield/plant,
fruit length, diameter, weight, volume, rind: rag: aril ratio, total and reducing sugars, sugar acid
ratio, juice content, flowering and minimum rag percentage, non-reducing sugars, titratable
acidity, fruit cracking and fruit drop were recorded in trees treated with Cytozyme 4 ml/l. The
highest total chlorophyll content, TSS, return bloom and intensity in ground and over colour
were observed with the application of Vipul 15ml/l, whereas the highest fruit set and minimum
flower drop were recorded with Vipul + Homobrassinolides 1.5 + 5 ml/l.
