Abstract
India would be a much more prosperous country if its population has remained half of what it is today, said Jawaharlal Nehru several years ago. But ironically enough, our population has been steadily on the increasing. Today, it has crossed the 80 Crore mark, according to the latest Census.
On the one hand. there has been greater production of food grains and in the factories, but these benefits of Greater production have bee:n neutrals by the population fallout.
