Abstract
With the advent ofgreen revolution, itwas found thatthe highyieldingvarieties ofcropslike rice, wheatresponded welltofertilizers likeN,P,K and micro nutrients along with higher levels of irrigation. For increased productivityofthe cropsthe increased use ofthefertilizers is essential forhighyieldingvarieties. Further, thejudicioususeaswell as balanced combinationofthesefertilizersisofgreatimportance.Toarrive atthe recommendation ofthejudicious application ofthe fertilizers for maximisingtheyieldand profit, itisnecessarytoassesstheresponseof thesefertilizersindividually, aswellasthecombinationofthesefertilizers. Response surfaceisastatisticaltechniquedeveloped tostudytheeffect of trend of fertilizers response on the yield of crop along with all combinationsofInteractions.Pooledanalysisisusedwhentheexperiment is repeatedfortwoormoreseasonsoryearsorplacesorcombinationof these. With the help of pooled analysis, the effect ofthe fertilizers individuallyandalsotheeffectoftheirinteractionsovertheyearscanbe ascertained. Further, itcan also be inferredthatwhethertheseason has significanteffectontheyieldornot.Presentstudyinvolves, fittingresponse surfaceequationsforindividalyearsandpooledanalysisforvarietiesthat wererepeated formorethanoneyear. The datawere collectedfromAll India Co—ordinated AgronomicResearch Project, for the experiments conducted at 3 centres namelyRudrur, Maruteru and Rajendranagar. These experiments are being conducted to study the long range effectofcontinuous cropping and manuringonsoilfertilityandyieldstabilityfordifferentcropsequencesricerice(MaruteruandRajendranagar)andrice-wheat(Rudrur).Theresponse surface equations werefitted by multiple linear regression procedure. Pooled analysis was carried out as perthe methodology proposed by Nigam and Gupta (1979). inyearwiseanalysisofexperimentsconducted at Rudrurcentre(rice—wheat),itwasobservedthatinalltheexperimentsconductedduring kharifandrabiseasons, themaineffectsofnitrogenandphosphoruswere foundsignificantat5percentlevelindicatingthathigherdosesofnitrogen and phosphorusgavehigheryields.Therewasverylow responsetothe applicationofpotassiumfertilizersasinonly8experimentsoutof13during kharifseason and in6experimentsoutof12during rabi season, Kwas found significant at 5 per cent level. interaction effect NP was found significantin 6yearsoutof13yearsin kharifand4yearsof12yearsin rabiseason. in onlyoneexperimentconducted during kharifseason, the interaction effectNPKwasfoundto besignificantat5 percentlevel. FromtheyeanNiseanalysisofexperimentsconductedatMaruterucentre(rice—rice), itwasobservedthatduringkharifseason, nitrogenand phosphoruswerefoundsignificantat5(or1)percentleveleachin6years outof12yearsindicating the moderate responsetothe applicationofN and P fertilizers. There was very less response to the application of potassiumfertilizerasonlyinoneexperimentitwasfound significantat5 per centlevel. During rabi season, nitrogen in all the experiments and phosphorus in 10 experiments outof 13 experiments showed significant difference in yield indicating that higherdoses of N and P gave higher yields. Kwasfound significantin 6 experiments, indicating lowresponse totheapplication ofpotassiumfertilizer. FromyearwiseanalysisofexperimentsconductedatRajendranagarcentre(rice—rice), itwasobservedthatduring kharifseason N and Pwere foundsignificantinalltheexperimentsindicatingverygood responsetothe applicationofthesefertilizers.Inonly4experimentsoutof12,Kwasfound tobesignificantat5percentlevelindicatingthepoorresponsetothefertilizer K. Good response to NP interaction was observed in 7 years. NPK interaction was significantinonlyoneyear. During rabi season, N and P werefound significantat5(or1)percentlevel in 10yearsoutof12years, indicatinggoodresponsetoapplicationofthesetwofertilizers.Kwasfound to besignificant in only3 years indicating poorresponsetoapplication of K.TherewasverylessresponsetointeractioneffectsNP,NK,PKandNPK. Fromtheresponsesurfaceequations, itwasobservedthat, duringkharif season, the linear effects of N and P were found positive in 5experiments outof6 experiments indicatingthe increased yield obtained with the'increased levels offertilizers N and P. it was further confirmed that, therewasnoquadratictrendofN and Pindicatingthehigheryields ofcropforhigherdosesofNandPfertilizers.ln3experiments,therewas negativeinteraction effectindicatingthenegativeinteraction between N andPfertilizers.Thepositiveinteraction effectin3experimentsindicated thecumulativeeffectofNand Pfertilizers, During rabi season, thelinear effectofNwasfoundposltlveinallthe4experimentsconsideredandthe lineareffectofPwasfound positive in 3experiments outof4indicating theincreasedyieldcanbeachievedwiththeincreased levelsofNand P fertilizers.TherewasnonquadraticeffectofN in 3experimentsandone experimentforP. Interaction effectwas negative in 3 experimentsoutof 4 indicating the negative interaction between N and P fertilizers with respecttoyield. Frompooledanalysis, itwasobservedthat,a"'t‘~~Rudrurucentre(rice—wheat), during kharifseasons the rice varieties lR 50 and WGL 22245 respondedwelltofertilizerapplicationthanTellahamsavariety.Duringrabi seasons,HDM—1553showedsignificantresponsetointeractioneffectsNP and NK. ThepooledanalysisforthevarietiesatMaruterucentre(Rice-rice)showed that, during kharifseasons MTU 2067 responded well to N,P,K fertilizerapplicationsthanMTU8002.TheresponseofvarietiesMTU4029 andlVlTU7633wasfoundmoderate.Duringrabiseasons,allthevarieties BPT 1235, lR 50 and IR 64 responded well to varying levels of N,P,K fertilizers. Pooled analysisofthe experimentsconducted atRajendranagarcentre indicated thatduringkharifseasonsvarietyPothana respondedwellto N,P,Kfertilizerapplicationswhen alltheyearstakentogether. Though Satyaand RNR 1446respondedwelltovaryinglevelsofthesefertilizers, therewas no significantdifferencein responsefromyeartoyear. During rabi seasons, Tellahamsa responded well to N,P,Kfertilizers, than RNR 1446.
