The present investigations were conducted in the year 2016 to investigate the “Effect of Brassinosteroid (Brassinolide) on Morpho-physiological, Biochemical Attributes and Antioxidant Enzyme Activity in Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) under drought stress. The experiment was conducted in the net house of the Vegetable Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Four treatments were maintained i.e T0 control, T1 Drought, T2 Drought+ BL@ 0.025mM, T3 Drought+ BL@ 0.05mM and three replications for each treatment. Foliar spray was given to tomato seedlings and water stress treatment was started at 30 DAS. Normal plants were given regular irrigation from the date of sowing to pre-anthesis stage and over there no stress is created. Drought stressed plants received irrigations with a gap of 15 days. Results may show that the leaves of tomato plants subjected to drought stress can endure moderate drought stress because of small changes in enzyme activities. However, enzyme activities declined under severe drought conditions. Pre- treatment with BR can ameliorate the adverse effects of drought stress via decreasing the oxidative damage of plant membranes, possibly by the induction of compatible solute for osmotic adjustment and the induction of antioxidant defense system in tomato plants. Finally, the results hint that BR may in future find application for improving plant growth and yield in dry areas.en_US
