Abstract
Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. The success of farming is mainly
dependent on availability of quality seeds and planting materials. A survey on opinion,
awareness and attitude of hybrid seeds by Indian farmers was conducted in the area of
Hamirpur block in Hamirpur District, HP. It aimed at the study of attitudes of farmers
towards hybrid seeds . To fulfill the objectives, a sample of 120 farmers was selected with
convenient sampling technique. It was found that majority of farmers uses hybrid seeds in
their fields. The prices and availability of hybrid seeds was major concern. Most of the
farmers were less satisfied with the availability, effectiveness, information and price of the
hybrid seeds. As most of the farmers were less educated and doing agriculture through
traditional ways, so there is need to make farmers’ aware about the new modern techniques of
agriculture through strong extension services.
