Abstract
The present study was taken up to explore the anticancer effect of aqueous and hydro-alcoholic extracts of Tinospora cordifolia in vitro, in mammary tumour cell line MCF-7 each at three different doses viz., 200 μg/ml, 400 μg/ml and 600 μg/ml and their influence on cell viability was detected using MTT assay. Both the extracts produced significant reduction in cell viability, with maximum effect being noticed at the dose level of 600 μg/ml. This result suggest that aqueous and hydro-alcoholic extracts of Tinospora cordifolia could suppress cell viability in MCF-7 cell line and act as effective natural anticancer agent in mammary tumour.
