Abstract
The total volatile fatty acids and electrolytes sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus were determined in the rumen liquor at varying intervals after feeding with different types of feeds. There was no significant difference in the production of TVFA with the three types of feeds. The concentration of sodium was more in the rumen liquor in feed containing maize. The phosphorus and magnesium concentration were significantly higher in the ration containing maize than the other two feeds.
