The field experiment entitled “Bio-efficacy of post-emergent herbicides on growth and yield of greengram (Vigna radiata L.)” was conducted at AICRP on Agroforestry unit, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bengaluru during kharif 2018. Eleven treatments including the application of three post emergent herbicide molecules and their combinations (Fomesafen, propaquizafop and imazethapyr) at 25 DAS, two hand weedings at 15 and 30 DAS, weed free check and unweeded control were replicated thrice in Randomized Complete Block Design. Major weeds observed were Borreria articularis, Alternanthera sessilis, Euphorbia geniculata, Acanthospermum hispidum, Parthenium hysterophorus, Amaranthus viridis among broad-leaved weeds, Eleusine indica, Dactyloctenium aegyptium and Echinochloa colona among the grassy weeds and Cyperus rotundus among sedges. Post-emergent application of fomesafen 18.8% SL @ 294 g a.i. ha-1 + propaquizafop 5.83% EC @ 91 g a.i. ha-1 recoded a significantly higher seed yield, net returns and BC ratio (1058 kg ha-1, Rs. 51,208 ha-1 and 3.27, respectively) and which was on par with fomesafen 18.8% SL @ 252 g a.i. ha-1 + propaquizafop 5.83% EC @ 78 g a.i. ha-1 (1007 kg ha-1, Rs. 47,924 ha-1 and 3.15, respectively) without any phytotoxicity on greengram. Unweeded control recorded a significantly lower seed yield (402 kg ha-1), lower net returns (Rs. 7,875 ha-1), lower BC ratio (1.39) and higher weed index (64.36%) compared to other treatments.en_US
