Abstract
ABSTRACT Consumption and preference of pork is fairly popular in a better section of Naga (66700 tonnes required annually). This then brings about the necessity to have a stable and sufficient production of pork within the state but it has been observed that a better percentage of the pork (36660 tonnes imported annually) circulated within the state is imported from neighbouring states such as Assam. Although the consumption of pork is high in the state, production still has ways to go (32030 tonnes produced annually). It has also been observed that the carcass or meat quality of the imported pork is not of the same quality in which locally produced meat is of owing to the feeding and husbandry differences. With the scope of increasing the production within the state to meet the demand, there brings about the necessity of establishing medium and large-scale farms in a good number. Thus, this study is focused on catering to the demands of Piggery based products in the area of study and to establish new ventures. With the help of projected profitability statement, cash flow statement, debt-service coverage ratio and breakeven point, the enterprise appears to show great promise. As the payback period is 1 year 8 month and 9 days, which shows that this project is deemed to be more than satisfactory. Internal Rate of Return is 41.88% and the Accounting Rate of Return is 29.85%, whereas debt-service coverage ratio is 3.7 which points that the project is feasible.
